Bored at work so I found a picture of Kurt Cobain and sketched it out on a sticker in about a half-hour. It has been awhile since I last did something that I liked as much as this.
I've always felt a little like a tool doing pop-culture images like this, what I feel is a carbon copy of an already-iconic image. But a guy I work with saw it and complimented it, saying that he liked how it was such a fresh style compared to normal portraits. It kind of turned my perceptions around, and I started wondering if maybe he's right - my portraits have a lot of heart and soul and craftsmanship put into them, and I should take pride in that rather than brushing it aside as Warhol-ian crap. Thanks Tyler - you get to keep the sticker now that I've scanned it.
